Section Basics 

The Phase I budget period must be between 6 and 12 months.  Briefly describe the important, critical milestones to be achieved and the estimated amount of time for completing each task described in the Work Plan.  Please be aware that your Phase II application will be due approximately 9.5 months after the start date.  Critical milestones that will be important to include in your Phase II application should be completed in the first 9 months of your project. 

Section Goals 

  1. Present a timeline/performance schedule for the completion of important milestones, tasks, and technical objectives included in the Work Plan.
  2. Be specific about the tasks included on the timeline to demonstrate that the project has been well planned and considered.


Pro tips 

  • It may be beneficial to present the timeline in graphic form so that reviewers can readily see the flow and progression of the project.  Considering the length of the Work Plan and the amount of text required to describe in detail the work to be conducted, a graphic representation of the performance schedule will also create greater visual interest.
